One of the largest great ape research centers in North America needs more than $1 million to recover from damage suffered in Iowa's record June floods.

Cities all along the Gulf Coast are hoping that "Gustav" won't bear a resemblance to Hurricane Katrina. But with the third anniversary of Katrina looming, they're also not taking any chances.

Gustav is expected to move into the Gulf of Mexico over the holiday weekend.

The remnants of Tropical Storm Fay in the Southeast moved slowly northward into the mid-Atlantic on Wednesday. There is the possibility of a brief tornado or two in addition to locally gusty winds.
