KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The first heat wave of the summer will break this weekend as a cold front will sweep across the viewing area.
NBC Action Weather Meteorologist Jeremy Nelson says Saturday will mark the seventh consecutive day with high temperatures in the 90s in Kansas City.
The Excessive Heat Warnings will continue through Saturday afternoon for the metro area with heat indices above 100 degrees once again.
A cold front will march across the viewing area Saturday afternoon and evening. As this front collides with the hot and humid air a few thunderstorms will be possible. Jeremy says don't cancel any outdoor plans, as the showers and thunderstorms should be isolated to scattered.
Once the front clears the area Saturday evening the temperature and humidity levels will drop off. Sunday will be less humid with highs in the 80-85 degree range. Nighttime lows next week may even fall below 60 degrees for one night!
