CHICAGO - Royals Hall of Famer and TV analyst Paul Splittorff won't be broadcasting games for a while. An illness has caused him to take some time off.
Splittorff provided analysis on the Royals Opening Day broadcast on Tuesday. But he had difficulties with his voice and has returned to Kansas City.
The former Royals star pitcher hopes to recover fully and return to Royals' broadcasts. He's been serving as a TV analyst for 22 years.
Royals Hall of Famer Frank White is filling in for Splittorff, who also missed some basketball broadcasts during the winter because of his medical difficulties.
White is in his second season as the Royals' TV analyst. He also serves the team as a special advisor.
